Dear Peg and family, My heart sank when I heard that Bill had passed away. I just cut his hair last week and he was so excited about heading to Maine to watch Alison's lacrosse game. It just doesn't seem fair that such a vital, amazing man should be taken so suddenly. Peg, please know that you and Bill have become so special to me over the many years that I have had the pleasure of having you as customers. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Love and huge hugs <3 Laurie Snowman

Bill was my first entomology professor at Purdue when I took General & Applied Entomology as a freshman, and I had him in one of the last beekeeping classes he taught. He was an example of excellence and graciousness that I continue to carry with me and attempt emulate in my own college teaching. Students notice something so simple as using the word "please" an exam (PLEASE describe the insect proventriculus vs. Describe the insect proventriculus). He always put students first, and I try to do the same.

Peg, so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I had no idea that you had moved to Lancaster or I would have stopped in to visit. I have many fond memories of Bill attending Purdue Band concerts and the annual awards banquets. We sat at the same table several times and had some great conversations about bugs and bands. Once again I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin Emerson, Purdue,'84.
