LUNENBURG – Robert W. McGoldrick, 80, of South Lunenburg Road, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mr. McGoldrick was born in Lancaster on June 8, 1929, the son of William McGoldrick and Evelyn (Brown) McGoldrick McKaig.
Robert served in the US Navy at an early age and later graduated from Lancaster Academy when he returned home. He move to Springfield, VT, where he was employed at Fellows Corp from 1955 - 1971. He continued working in that area in the machine tool industry and was also the bartender at the Springfield Elks for 14 years.
He was a 52 year member of the Springfield Elks and served as secretary for 25 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Springfileld, the VFW in Springfield and the American Legion in Chester. He loved fishing and spending time at his camp in Westmore.
Family members include his wife Jane (Colby) McGoldrick of Lunenburg; a son
James McGoldrick of Tuftonboro; and a sister Barbara Davis of Windham, ME. His daughter, Donna McGoldrick, predeceased him in 2009 and a sister, Virginia Marro.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, S. Lunenburg, on Friday, May 28 at 11:00 AM.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory for the Silver Towers Club to the Elks Club Inc., 49 Park Street, Springfield, VT 05156.
