GROVETON- Darlene Sylvia White (Blaisdell), 56, died Tuesday April 13 2010 at the Genesis Laconia Center, due to a short illness.


Mrs. White was born to the late Harry and Sylvia Blaisdell, September 3 1953, in Portland, ME.


 


She married the late Terrance White on September 23, 1978 they were married for 29 years until Terrance’s passing in 2007. Their life was shared for a love of NASCAR and traveling to the races. She was a huge fan of Mark Martin. Enjoying when the family would join together to celebrate holidays and most of all each other. She was a loving wife, loving mother and a loving grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren and her family.


Darlene worked at Fairchild for many years in South Portland, ME and lived in Scarborough, ME for many years until her move to Groveton, NH where she spent the last 14 years being a housewife and taking care of family.


She loved to cook and loved growing her own gardens and spices to use in her cooking. She had a love of old recipes’ that have been handed down over the years and enjoyed sharing those recipes’. She also had a sweet tooth. For Blueberry pie was her favorite. She also grew rhubarb to make rhubarb pie.


Darlene had been big into genealogy and over the past many years and started to compile family trees for everyone in her life. Her true dedication to this was amazing for she spent many years and hours on these projects. She was an artist with oil paints and drawings. She recently graduated from a Graphic Art School. She was always on the computer contacting family, playing games and researching family trees and doing graphic arts.


Darlene had a very eccentric life, which introduced her to many people and many places all with different stories to tell.



Her parents, Harry and Sylvia Blaisdell, predeceased her; husband, Terrance; young daughter, Paula Alley and her mother and father in law Roland and Virginia White.



Surviving family members: 3 children: Stephen Alley and Scott Alley, of Laconia, NH; Melissa Simonelli, and her husband Richard of Clayton, NC; 2 step-children Lawrence White and his wife Marsha of Duluth, GA and Karen Degreenia and her husband Darrell of Sutton, VT; 2 sisters Linda Blaisdell of Saco, ME and Dottie Pratt and her husband Arthur of Sebago, ME; 4 Half Sisters: Judy Roy Jay, Maine, Melody Stinchfield Rumford, Maine, Jean Campbell Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Dorothy Soule Farmington, Maine; 2 Half-Brothers: William Paccione Aurora, Colorado, William Swan Warren, Maine; 2 sister in laws Joan Carrier and her husband Ed of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Sharon Chamberlain and her husband Gary of Danville, VT; 1 Uncle: Paul F Burgess and wife Maria of Woodbridge,Virginia; 3 Aunts: Dorothy Crosby Mexico, Maine, Clara Burgess Springvale, Maine, Gloria Pillsbury Shapleigh, Maine. She also is survived by 6 Grandchildren, 15 Step- Grandchildren, 4 Step-Great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 6 nephews.



There are no visiting hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday April 23,  at 11:00 AM, at All Saints Church. Reverend Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

Every Christmas Darlene made us a personal gift-a gift from the heart. It could have been a poem she had written or a family genealogy that she had researched. These gifts were very special and much appreciated. She will be missed but not forgotten. Our sympathy to all who loved her.
