Aggy Chase

October 1, 1937 — February 22, 2022

Aggy Chase of Whitefield passed away peacefully on 2/22/22 at 2:22pm with family by her side at the Morrison Nursing Home. She was known about Whitefield for her circles of friends and her work with the Common Committee rehabbing the bandstand and putting flower boxes around town.

She enjoyed 30 years in the home she built with her husband, Sam, where they hosted many family and community gatherings, and she tended her many gardens. Aggy had affinity for her golden retrievers, most recently, M, who visited her when able.

She's loved by her sons, Skip of Brentwood, NH (Jennifer) and Ed of Manlius and Big Moose Lake, NY (Colleen) as well as her three grandchildren Jack, Scott and Kevin from Ed and Nancy who passed away in 2012.

Prior to becoming full-time Whitefield residents, Aggy and Sam resided in Fayetteville, NY, a Syracuse suburb. They were regular visitors to their camp in Whitefield starting in 1966 with their boys, Skip and Ed and later spending summers with family, friends and anyone who happened by. Not unusual to see softball games in the shadow of the Chase Barn Playhouse, groups hiking in White Mountains or a crowd at the Burns Pond boat ramp. She loved to feed one and all as well.

In Syracuse, Aggy sold real estate and was involved in many community organizations including gardening, social groups and the Onondaga Country Club. She liked to be a doer and took responsibility seriously with her many passions.

Aggy married Sam hours after graduating from Syracuse University in 1959. She went to many football, basketball and lacrosse games at SU through the years, but also watched many games that Sam, Skip and Ed participated in their athletic endeavors. She loved travelling whether following her family or with high school, college or local friends from Syracuse.

Aggy was graduated from Bronxville, NY High School where she lived with her parents Beatrice and Wilbur L. Mellon. Aggy stayed in contact with and participated in class gatherings with her high school classmates. She was born in Chester, PA in 1937.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Morrison Communities, 6 Terrace Street, Whitefield, NH 03598. No services are planned at this time.
