LANCASTER, NH- Charles T. Allin Jr., 89, died December 29, 2010, at Weeks Medical Center, after a three week battle with pneumonia.
Mr. Allin was born in Lancaster on August 22, 1921, the first of three sons of Charles T. Allin Sr. and Madelyn (Gray) Allin.
He was raised in Groveton and attended Groveton Schools. He worked for 35 years at the Groveton Paper Mill retiring in 1983.
On December 19,1940 he married Harriet Connary of Lancaster. Although he was hospitalized Charles and Harriet celebrated their 70
th
wedding anniversary together with family last week.
Since 1957 Charles and his family have spent their summers at their camp on Maidstone Lake, which came to be known as "Allin's Alley". He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Groveton.
He leaves his loving wife Harriet; his daughter Charlotte Naves and her husband Allen of Jefferson; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Barbara Samson Allin of North Carolina. He was predeceased by, his son Bruce Allin in 1982 and two brothers Merle Allin and Stuart Allin.
At Charles' request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Summer Street Cemetery.
