Peter Low DDS

BETHLEHEM- Peter Low DDS, 80, died at his home with family and close friends by his side on Wednesday evening, November 7, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dr. Low was born in Cambridge, MA on September 2, 1938, the son of Frederick Billings and Irene (Beard) Low. He graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester in 1956 and the University of New Hampshire in 1960. Peter honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and then went on to earn his degree in dentistry from the University of Maryland in 1967. Peter's dental philosophy was "you never treat a stranger" and he lived by that principle for the 50 years he practiced. He was committed to providing all patients the quality and professional care that he would his own family. His heart attitude was motivated by 1 Peter 4:10 - "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." He cared and served his patients in the city of Dover, NH for 30 years and wanting to "retire" he embarked on another 20 years of full time service in the small mountain town of Bethlehem, NH. He passed the torch to his son Jody B. Low DDS, who currently owns the original practice in Dover and continues with his Father's philosophy. Peter was so dedicated to his patients and the practice of Dentistry, that he treated his final patient just 10 days before his death. He was a past member of the John Birch Society, member and past president of the New Hampshire Dental Society and a faithful parishioner of Whitefield Christian Church. Peter enjoyed golfing and had a passion for collecting farm equipment. Surviving family members include his wife Wilma A. (Coull) Low of Bethlehem; 6 children, Laura Lynn Hosler of Dallas, TX, Shelley Louise Luna of Marion, CT, Jody Billings Low of Dover, NH, Deborah O'Hearn of Gainesville, FL, Scott Young of Sedalia, Missouri, David Young of East Kingston, NH, 21 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother David T. Low of Tamerack, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Debra Leahy and a brother Robert J. Whitney. Visiting hours will be held on November 15 with viewing from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Whitefield Christian Church. A funeral service will be held Friday November 16th beginning at 9:00 AM. Pastor Lou Going will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Whitefield Christian Church.
