John Henry Oleson

John Henry Oleson, age 70, of Lancaster, N.H passed away at home on February 9, 2017. John attended UNH, was a member of the National Guard, and retired after a long construction career. John is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gerri Oleson, and survived by his sister, Donna Hartford of Jefferson, NH, and his brother Fred Oleson of Rumney, NH. He leaves behind a loving wife, Jean Oleson, three children, Andrea Oleson Curtis, Benjamin Gaetjens-Oleson and Adam Oleson, as well as six beloved grandchildren, Payton, MacKenzie, Alex May, Imani, Isabella and Jackson. John was also blessed with a bounty of family and friends that he gratefully shared his life with. John was a better man than he realized, as evidenced by the people who knew him and loved him despite his flaws. John's wishes were to forego formal funeral services. His family will gather in the spring to celebrate his life and to scatter his ashes at the place he felt most at peace. We will see you in the trees, hear you among the songbirds, and feel you in the warm air...you will never leave us! When I am every day all day all body and no mind, when I am physically, wholly and completely, in this world with the birds, the deer, the sky, the wind, the trees... When day after day I think of nothing but what the next chore is, when I go from clearing woods roads, to sharpening a chain saw, to changing the oil in a mower, to stacking wood, when I am all body and no mind... When I am only here and now and nowhere else-then, and only then, do I see the crippling power of mind...
