Obituary for Anne Eastman Wheeler Mardin

JEFFERSON – Anne Eastman Wheeler Mardin, age 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Hospice House in Concord, NH.

She was a member of the VFW & American Legion Auxiliaries; she sold Avon for 25 years, and worked at White Mountains Regional High School in the cafeteria for 14 years. For 22 years she made a delicious Blackberry Coffee Cake for the Post Card Show in Jefferson, and waitressed at Grandma’s Kitchen, Pig’s Whistle, and the Lancaster Truck Stop. Anne was navigator while cross-country trucking with her husband, William Wheeler, Sr. for many years. She was also an avid Bingo player, card player, and most of all loved to sing - she was a regular at the open mic forums in Lancaster and Guildhall.

Anne was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and community volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Antoinette Eastman; one sister, Elaine Crapo; her childhood sweetheart, William Wheeler Sr., husband of 44 years; daughter, Fonda Chase; son, Gary Wheeler; and second husband of 14 years, Raymond Mardin of Jefferson. She is survived by a daughter, Julie Welch and her husband, Ellison Welch; sons, Ted Wheeler, his wife Darlene Wheeler, William Wheeler, Jr. and lifelong partner Mona Bell; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home. Reverend Dean A. Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Riverton Cemetery, Jefferson.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by North Country Home Health and Hospice Agency and Concord Hospice House.
