Ghislaine Dubois

JEFFERSON- Ghislaine Dubois, 88, died at her home in Riverton on Saturday June 4, 2016, surrounded by her family.



She was born September 5, 1927 in Jefferson, to Wilfrid E. and Cora (Gagnon) Couture, the third of nine children



She had attended schools in Canada, including one year of high school as a boarding student at a convent. She married Victor Dubois on September 4, 1944.



A hard worker, Ghislaine had been employed at many jobs outside of her home over the years. She was a cook at a logging camp operated by her father, worked at Willey's Nursing Home in Jefferson, which is known today as the Applebrook Inn.  She also worked at the Gilman Mill and in various shoe factories.  In later years she was the housekeeper at the All Saint's Rectory in Lancaster, and enjoyed many years of membership in the Tabernacle Society.  She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed helping to maintain St. Agnes' Church in Jefferson, especially decorating for Christmas and preparing the linens and vestments for services.



Family was very important to Ghislaine.  She helped to care for her parents and husband until their deaths.  All of her grandchildren brought her great joy and she spent countless hours rocking her babies.  Her home was always open to her large extended family.



She is survived by her children, Solange Norcross and her husband, Peter, of Vero Beach FL, Maurice Dubois and his wife, Deborah, of Jefferson and Andre Dubois and his wife, Kathy of Lancaster, Diane Heath and her husband, Jeff, of Jefferson, along with seven grandchildren, Tammy Heath (Sid) Ahlbrand, Stephen Heath (Cynthia Cairns) , Jennifer Dubois, (Andrew) MacDonald, Mark (Stacey) Dubois, Amy Dubois (Paul) LaRoche, , and Nicholas Dubois; eight great grandchildren Heath and Vaughn Ahlbrand, Hunter, Spencer, and Jacoby Heath, Elle MacDonald, Reese and Hadley Dubois.  Two brothers, Jean-Paul Couture and his wife, Elizabeth and  Julien (Chick) and his wife, Claudette, brother-in-law Jacque Pelletier, sister-in-law Lucille Couture, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Her friend and caregiver, Marie Cameron, who helped to ensure that Ghislaine was able to spend her final days in the home that she had lived in for 70 years.



Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Victor in May 2012 and an infant son, Jean-Marie, two sisters Josette Pelletier and Louise Lauzon and two brothers Albert and Rosaire Couture in addition to a brother and a sister who both died in infancy, and an infant granddaughter, Christina Norcross.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday June 11, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Jefferson, to be followed by interment at the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.



Friends may call at the Bailey Funeral Home 210 Main Street Lancaster from 6:00 to 9:00pm on Friday.  Donations in Ghislaine's memory may be made to the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library Building Fund, PO Box 244, Jefferson NH 03583.
