LANCASTER - Janice A. Dyer, 74, of Ice Pond Village, died Wednesday evening May 4, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Janice was born in Lancaster on June 24
th
, 1941 the daughter of Philip and Annie (McHarg) Cantin. She has been a lifetime resident of Lancaster and was a 1960 graduate of Lancaster Academy. She was also a graduate of Houle's Beauty Academy in Manchester. On January 28, 1967 she married Earl Dyer.
For many years she operated Jan's Beauty Shop in Lancaster. She also worked several years at Weeks Medical Center in housekeeping and later did patient sitting.
Jan was an active member and volunteer in her community. She was a member of Colonel Town Players, Weeks Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Women's Auxiliary and was a Weeks Hospital Volunteer.
Surviving family members include her daughter Bobbiejo Dyer and boyfriend Bruce Bruleigh of Topsham, VT; grandchildren Brandon Dyer and Cheyenne Dyer both of Topsham; sisters, Carol White of Lancaster, Faye Ellis of St. Johsnbury, Lucielle Cantin of Newmarket, NH, Anita Matott and husband Jim of Lancaster; brothers, Kenneth Cantin and wife Dawn of Lunenburg, Thomas Cantin of Lunenburg, Timothy Cantin of Jonesville, NC; uncles Harland Cantin of Guildhall, VT, Leonard Cantin and wife Virginia of East Haven, VT; one aunt, Irene Cantin of Lancaster; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, two infant brothers; brother-in-laws Keith Ellis, Donald White; several aunts, uncles, cousins and her close friend Arthur Cassady.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening, May 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
