A. Gladys Maclean

WHITEFIELD - A. Gladys MacLean, 102, died Saturday November 4, 2017 at the Morrison Nursing Home. She was born in Glace Bay Nova Scotia, Canada on June 4, 1915 the daughter of William E. and Ellen C. (MacLean) MacLean. Her family moved to Lancaster in September of 1919 and Gladys attended local schools graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1932.
She held the office of Register of Probate for many years, retiring on December 31, 1982. Her memberships included the Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Society and Olive Branch Chapter #1 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In her spare time she enjoyed needlepoint and knitting, making numerous pairs of children's mittens for hospital gift shops, Toys for Tots, and church Christmas sales.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and Canada.
A graveside service will be held on her birthday, Monday June 4th at 11:00 AM in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Reverend Richard Boyden, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, will officiate.
