Adele M. Stride

ST. JOHNSBURY - Adele Stride , formerly of Auburn Star Road in Lunenburg, died late Friday November 3, 2017 at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center, after a long illness.
She was born March 18, 1935 in Boston, MA. the daughter of Edgar G. and Allyn A (Wright) Galbreath. She attended local schools and married Richard A. Stride in 1955. The couple first made their home in Hanson, MA, and later moved to Pomfret, VT before settling in Tunbridge. Adele later moved to Lunenburg to live with her daughter Maureen Eaton.
Adele enjoyed life as a mother and house wife but had also done factory work, along with working at a motorcycle shop and as a sales clerk for J. C. Penney.
Her artwork, painting, crafting and collecting craft magazines were very important to her. She and her husband spent many weekends traveling on their motorcycle or in their motor home, to attend a variety of events to include antique shows, motorcycle shows or any show that seemed interesting. After they retired she and Dick raised exotic birds to include, emu, pheasant and ducks. They also enjoyed traveling in their Delorean. Time spent with family was very important to Adele along with her strong Christian faith, which helped her persevere through any hardship. Reading her Bible and attending church where important parts of her life.
Survivors include two sons Richard Stride and his wife, Julie, of Tunbridge, Tabor Stride and his wife, Bonnie, of Williamstown, two daughters Maureen Eaton and her husband, Conan, of Lunenburg and Amber Chalmbers and her husband, Lincoln, of Eden. Also surviving are two sisters, Lillian DeGenarro and her husband, John and Nancy Groeble and her husband , Albert; four brothers, Steve Galbreath and his wife, Sue, Edgar Galbreath and his wife, Pat, David Galbreath and John Galbreath, and fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Dick.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the South Tunbridge Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Tunbridge Town Hall.
