LANCASTER - Alan L. Walker, 58, formerly of Bridge Street, died Wednesday morning June 7, 2006, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare after a long illness.
Mr. Walker was born in Fitchburg, MA, on January 12, 1948, the son of John H. and Phyllis M. (Valcourt) Walker.
Alan was raised in Massachusetts and attended school in Townsend, MA. At 18 years old he enlisted in the US Army and served 7 years including a tour in Germany. He returned to Mass for a short time then moved to Lancaster in the early 70's. Various employments included Brown Street Furniture, Josselyn's Saw Mill, and from 1992 to 2004 he was employed with the Town of Lancaster. He also worked with his brother Kenneth for a time building log homes.
Family members include a son Armond Walker and his wife Barbara of Lunenburg; a daughter Amber Walker of Guildhall; his mother Phyllis of Townsend, MA; four brothers, Kenneth Walker and wife Madeline of Lancaster, Bruce Walker and wife Lynn of Jaffrey, Wayne Walker and companion Patty of Berwick, ME, Stanley Walker and wife Josephine of Berwick, ME; three sisters, Lorraine Woodman and husband Dale of Rindge, Ferne West and companion John Walsh of Fitchburg, MA, Christine Gould and husband Robert of Wolfeboro; a granddaughter Katelynn Walker; his former wife Ethel R. Walker of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Ervin M. Walker in 1991 and his father John.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday morning June 17, at 11:00 AM in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
