GUILDHALL, VT- Alice M. Menzies, 81, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.

Mrs. Menzies was born in Sharon, Vermont on July 5, 1926 a daughter of Fred H. and Hazel B. (Charest) Dyer.

Alice was a 1944 graduate of Keene High School, where she was a Majorette in the marching band. She was a resident of Hopkinton for 44 years, and worked in Concord at New Hampshire Savings Bank as a loan officer, retiring 1984. After retirement she moved to Guildhall, VT.

She was great lover of animals of all kinds and had a special place in heart for her cats. She had a gift for nurturing wild baby animals. In earlier years she loved sailing and camping with her family.

Alice was a gentle person, who always thought of others before herself. Family meant everything to her, and she was especially proud of her grandchildren.

She was a past Vice President of the Republican Women's Club, a member of the Eastern Star, and the founding Den Mother of the Hopkinton Cub Scout Pack #77.

Family members include her husband Leslie B. Menzies of Guildhall; a son Douglas B. Menzies and his wife Rose of Groveton; a daughter Patricia M. Guay and her husband Stephen of Hopkinton, NH; a step-daughter, Shirley A. Stemska and her husband Edward of Goffstown, a sister, Carol Trudell and her husband Gordon of Marlborough, NH, 8 grandchildren, Heather Clark, Abigail Murray, Jennifer Fortier, Aaron Guay, Eric Guay, Autumn Menzies, Jay Stemska, and Robert Stemska, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 10, from 4-6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall. Reverend David Rose, pastor at St. Paul's Episcopal Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, PO Box 173, Holderness, NH 03245.
