Allen Naves

November 2, 1944 — July 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Allen L. Naves, DDS (“Doc”), announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 80 at Concord Hospital, Concord, NH. Allen was born at Exeter Hospital on November 2, 1944, the only child of Harry A. Naves and Mary Lamprey Naves. He spent his youth in North Hampton, attending grade school there and graduating from Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, NH. There he greatly enjoyed playing sports, including baseball, hockey, basketball and especially golf. He played golf both recreationally and in tournaments at his local course, Abenaqui Country Club, and this sparked his lifelong passion for the game. He attended the University of New Hampshire and Belknap College and then went on to West Virginia University graduating in 1971 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

He started his first dental practice in Plymouth, NH, and then moved further north in 1972 to join the practice of J. Edward Perreault, DMD, in Lancaster, where he remained for the entirety of his career. He quickly gained a reputation for being a gentle, caring and compassionate dentist, instantly putting his patients at ease. Although his appointment book was full, he would always find time to fit in a patient in need. He treated generations of families and treasured the friendships he built. He retired at the age of 70.

Allen was well known for his “unique” sense of humor, and he surely missed the nightly banter with the “boys” at Dick Monahans Gulf station. In 2001 he and his wife Charlotte moved to Jefferson where he raised chickens and had several horses, cats and dogs. His John Deer tractor quickly became his best friend. He would cut and split all of his own firewood and had nightly bonfires. He also enjoyed camping, gardening, boating, fishing, woodworking and most especially golfing. He always looked forward to dining and spending time with close friends, Michael and Sylvia Saladino. Allen was also an avid reader and a man of faith. After retiring he and Charlotte moved to Loudon, NH, where he spent the remainder of his years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Charlotte (Allin) Naves; his daughter Lynn Naves Carpenter and husband Troy, his grandsons Gage Carpenter and Thomas John Bibeau, Jr. (TJ); his son Bret A. Naves and wife Jennifer and his two granddaughters Emma and Isabella Naves. He is also survived by his three stepdaughters, Becky (Thurston) Brazil and husband Ray, Tracy L. Thurston, and Christine (Thurston) Quigley and husband Ned. He had seven step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Burial in the Summer Street Cemetery and the scattering of his ashes in the North Hampton Cemetery will be at a time of his family’s choosing.

Psalm 116:7 “Let my soul rest once again, for Jehovah has dealt kindly with me.”
