CHESHIRE, CT-Andrew Malloy, Jr., 76, of 130 Waverly St., died of cancer Saturday July 29, 2006 at his home.
Mr. Malloy was born in Berlin, NH on February 16, 1930, the son of Andrew and Helen (Walsh) Malloy Sr.
Andrew was a graduate of Lancaster Academy and Norwich University, Northfield, VT, Class of 1952 where he was a member and officer of Sigma Nu fraternity. He had been a Cheshire resident since 1970, moving there from East Longmeadow, MA. He was a retired Adjuster/Manager of Commercial Union and Atlantic Mutual Insurance companies.
Active in the community, he was a founding member of the Cheshire High School Marching Band Parents group, a former officer of the Cheshire Lions Club, and a Life Member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department and was named Rotary Fireman of the Year. Professionally, he was a past officer and member of the Springfield, Worcester, MA and New Haven, CT Claim Managers Councils and a member of the Managers' Board of Arbitration.
Family members include his wife of 55 years, Eleanor "Dede" (Emery) Malloy; three sons; Andrew Malloy III of Los Angeles, CA, Mark Malloy and Sean Malloy both of Cheshire, CT; two daughters; Kathleen Sevedge of Columbia, MO, and Beth DeFiore of Thomaston, CT; 11 grandchildren; and a sister Miriam Keenan of Ayer, MA. He was predeceased by, a daughter Marilyn Malloy.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 1 from 4-8 PM at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00, at The Church of the Epiphany. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 4, at 10:00 AM, in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster, NH.
