Ann Galbraith Alexander, 92, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH, after a long illness.
Ann was born at "The Grange" in Lancaster on November 7, 1916, the daughter of William R. Galbraith and Helen Stockwell Galbraith. She was a granddaughter of Dr. Emmons Stockwell of Lancaster; a descendant of one of Lancaster's founding families. She graduated from Lancaster High School, and lived in Lancaster, Whitefield, and Littleton over the years. She married Robert H. Alexander of Whitefield in 1934.
After raising her three children, Ann worked in the family business and later at New England Tel. & Tel. in Littleton. She attended the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield and in later years St Paul's Episcopal Church in Lancaster
She is survived by her sister, Joan Galbraith Pottle, her son, Duncan K. Alexander, and daughter Susan A. Wolf, and daughters-in-law Phyllis Alexander and Elaine Alexander, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Alexander, her son Mark G. Alexander, her brother Hugh Galbraith and sister Lucy Galbraith Jones.
In accordance with Ann's wishes there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service for family members will be held at the Pine Street Cemetery.
