LANCASTER - Arthur B. Cassady, 80, of Ice Pond Road, formerly of Whitefield, died Monday, November 30, 2015, at The Morrison in Whitefield.
Mr. Cassady was born in Ryegate, VT, on September 3, 1935 the son of Arthur A. and Amanda (Locke) Cassady. He attended Littleton Schools and served for a time on the Franconia Fire Department while residing there.
For most of his life he worked as a truck mechanic and over the years has been employed with White Mountain Mack, Mitchell Brothers Harley Davidson, Morrill Construction and A.B. Logging and Trucking. He also owned and operated ABC Diesel.
For 16 years he served with and worked for the NH National Guard and in the US Army Reserves.
Arthur was a former member of the Lancaster Sno-Drifters and many years ago he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a fan of NASCAR racing.
Family members include his children Daniel Cassady and wife Beverly of Rochester, Donald Cassady and wife Tracie of Whitefield, Denise Sheldon and husband Edward of Hooksett, Darlene Curley and husband Patrick of Stratford. Siblings, Velma Lucas and husband Omar of Littleton, Lewis Cassady and wife Colleen of Lancaster, Norma Gilman of St. Albans, VT, Michael Cassady and wife Bernice of Littleton, Linda McGowan and husband John of Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler, Jared, Jacob, Christopher, Hannah and Benjamin, Hannah, Nick step-sons William Wessels of Bethlehem, Andrew Wessels and Debra of Worcester, MA; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen F. (Wessels) Cassady in 2004. Siblings Ella Clough, Louise Cassady, Pauline Ingraham, Audrey Bogie, Roger Cassady, Allen Cassady, Marie Cassady and a daughter-in-law Janet Wessels also predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning January 16 at 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Life Cycle Celebrant Wendy MacDonald of Randolph will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the North Monroe Cemetery.
