WHITEFIELD- Asa C. Towle, 80, of Lancaster Road, died Tuesday July 3, 2007, at Bridgton Hospital, Bridgton, Maine.
Mr. Towle was born on February 1, 1926 in Jefferson, a son of Chester C. and Imogene (Reed) Towle.
Asa has resided his entire life in the Jefferson, Lancaster, and Whitefield area. He was a self-employed logger for many years and also worked ten years at Mt. Washington providing carriage rides. His passion in life was competitive horse pulling. He was an avid participant of the horse pulling circuit and was also an active buyer and seller of horses.
Family members include his wife Doreen (Ball) Towle of Whitefield; four children, Clyde Towle of Whitefield, Darlene Towle of Gorham, Ben Towle and his wife Tammy of Randolph, Curt Towle and his wife Beth of Porter, Maine; a brother Emmett E. Towle of Whitefield; two sisters, Jane Savage and her husband William of Lancaster, Molly T. Ball and her husband Donald of Gilman; eight grandchildren, Mandy Perry, Bobby Perry, Luke Thorne, Isaac Perry, Seth Towle, Zachary Towle, David Towle, Tyler Towle; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A daughter Dianna Towle predeceased him.
Visiting hours will be held Friday July 6, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Reverend Lou Going, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
