Audrey Wiswell Noyes

COLEBROOK - Audrey Wiswell Noyes died Monday March 25, 2013 at DHMC in Lebanon.  She was born on September the 13th, 1933 at the Coos County Hospital in West Stewartstown, NH the daughter of Arnold and Marguerite Hughes Wiswell. She attended local schools and graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1952.

Audrey was a waitress at Crawford's Diner and The Colebrook House in Colebrook. She was also employed for a number of years at Dickson's Pharmacy and also in the offices of Drs. Gifford and Parsons when their offices were on Main Street and she was a substitute teacher in the Colebrook school system, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her passion was the history of Colebrook and the surrounding area and she shared that love with whomever would listen. She was one of the early members of the Colebrook Area Historical Society and was asked to speak at Colebrook Academy graduation for the class of 1980. Her topic was, of course, the town of Colebrook. At the conclusion of the speech, she was given a standing ovation from all present. She volunteered for a long time working on the Check List at Town and School meetings. Her love of a good game of Scrabble, SkipBoo, a cup of coffee or a chat with friends, a good book, dancing, telling a good story or going to Lancaster Fair were exceeded only by her love for Colebrook. Audrey and her husband, Sam, ran an antique shop for many years in "the barn" on Edwards St. and through this enterprise became friends with many people in the North Country and places beyond. For over fifteen years, they spent most Sundays with Donald and Jean Haynes touring the back roads of the North Country and were also frequent diners at Jennifer's Restaurant in Island Pond, VT.

Audrey is survived by her husband Sam; son Robert Noyes of Columbia, daughters Peggy Moon of West Stewartstown, Debra Noyes of Columbia and Kathy Carmichael of Wilton, NH. Grandchildren; Nina and Eben Noyes, Abby Bissonnette and husband Richard, Ben and Megan Champagne and Nate Champagne and great-grandchildren: Quintessa, Ophelia and Hermione Bissonnette, and Camden and Carly Noyes. She is also survived by her sister Betty Frizzell of Colebrook and her family members and members of the Noyes families in the Jefferson, NH area.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon March 30 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. Timothy Brooks of Stratford will officiate.
