GRANBY, VT - Barbara L. Brown, 82, passed away Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. She was surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born January 20, 1936 in Concord, VT the daughter of Fox and Jennie (Wilson) Hodgdon. She attended Granby Central School and Lyndon Institute. She resided her entire life in Granby and married Lynwood Brown on March 27, 1953. This year would have marked their 65 year anniversary.
Barbara was very involved with the community and served as the school board director for the Granby VT School District for 39 years. She was also a Granby Town Library trustee, a member and moderator of the Granby Congregational Church, a 30 year 4-H Leader and member of the Granby School PTG.
Surviving family members include her loving husband Lynwood; her sons Roger Brown and wife Kim, Larry Brown and wife Betty, Ray Brown and wife Claudette; daughters, Deb Bunnell and husband Reg, Ellie Clauss and Melinda Wojdylak and her husband Jim. Barbara was proud of her 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Sue and Priscilla and many other family and friends.
Predeceased family members include her parents Fox and Jennie Hodgdon; 3 brothers, Donald, Murray and his wife Naomi, and Fred; her sister Vivian and her husband Sherwood; a son-in-law Fred Clauss and her great-granddaughter Jewelya Marie Brown-Perras.
A graveside service will be held Friday May 18th at 1:00 PM in the Appleton Cemetery, Granby, with a gathering immediately following at the Granby Town Hall.
