LANCASTER, NH - Barbara Y. Cutting, 91, died Monday morning, May 9, 2011, at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center.
Mrs. Cutting was born in Wolfeboro, NH, on June 23, 1919, the daughter of Carl L. and Beatrice (Kimball) Young.
Barbara was raised in Wolfeboro and graduated from Brewster Academy. After attending business college she worked various secretarial jobs until starting a family with her late husband Earl L. Cutting of Warner, NH. They resided throughout New England but were longtime residents of Portland, Maine.
She was a talented pianist and organist and has performed for the Order of the Eastern Star and in various churches. Late in life she became an avid Red Sox fan.
Church memberships include the Central Square Baptist Church, Portland, Maine and the Congregational United Church of Christ, Lancaster, NH. She was past worthy matron of the Deering Chapter #59, OES, and was recently made a lifetime member of Colonel Town Senior Citizens, Lancaster. NH.
Family members include a son C. Wayne Cutting and wife Sydnie M. Smith of Kennebunk, ME; a daughter Linda C. Hutchins and husband Dave of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Greg Hutchins and companion Billie Andersen, Stacey and Steve Desrosiers, Lisa and Derek Courchaine, Lori and Phil Alexander, James and Maria Companion; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her husband Earl predeceased her in May of 2010. They were married for 69 years.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, May 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, NH. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. A graveside committal service will follow at 4:00 PM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Warner, NH.
