LUNENBURG - Bertha B. Goodwin, 78, of River Road, died Friday morning, February 4, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center.
Mrs. Goodwin was born in Walden, VT, on January 19, 1933, the daughter of Howard and Jospehine (Provencher) Brown.
She was raised in Peacham and later met her husband Roy L. Goodwin and lived in Concord, VT. For five years she worked at Ned's Restaurant. Bertha was a LNA and for fifteen years worked for the State Hospital in Concord, NH. She was also employed five years at the Franconia Nursing Home and ten years at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Hanover. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and her dog "Brat" but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family members include a son Leighton "John" Evans Jr. of Alabama; five daughters, Cheryl Lucier of Mims, FL, Darlene Egan and friend Stephen Burt of Lunenburg, Brenda Mackay and husband Kevin of Lyndonville, Robin Monahan and husband Norman of Gilman, Hope Yeargle and husband Michael of Littleton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister in law Pauline Brown of Marshfield; and a god daughter Linda Foss of Enosburg. Her husband Roy predeceased her in 2007.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held June 11 in Riverside Cemetery, South Lunenburg. The precise time will be announced at a later date.
