JEFFERSON - Bertil R. Cushman, 79, passed away on Saturday May 22, 2021 peacefully in Wolfeboro.

Bert was born on September 13, 1941 in Clinton, MA. He grew up in the Holbrook and Sterling, MA area and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served for 6 years.

Bert is survived by Linda (Davis) Cushman his wife of 34 years, his son Brandan R. Cushman and his wife Sarah of Clinton, NE, and his daughter Pamela L. (Cushman) Leveillee and her husband George of Northbridge, MA, and his beloved grandchildren Amanda Leveillee and Drake Cushman.

He is predeceased by his father Russell Cushman, his mother Gertrude (Ricker) Cushman, and his five siblings: Carlene (VanVleck) Hopson, Carol (VanVleck) Pratt, Richard VanVleck, Edward VanVleck, and Lawrence Cushman; and his granddaughter April Leveillee. Known as Uncle Bert to many, he also has many nieces and nephews.

Bert worked as a machinist at Entwistel in Hudson, MA and Burndy Corp in Littleton, NH as well as construction, enjoyed woodworking, everything outdoors from hunting to canoeing, and loved spending time with his family. He lived in NJ, MA and NH, but had been in Jefferson for 36 years where he built his own house. He was also proud to be a Mayflower descendant. He was known for his quick wit and enjoyed telling stories with great detail.

The family thanks the staff and doctors of the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT and the Wolfeboro Bay Center in Wolfeboro, NH for the special care to him over the past year.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 27th, from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster. A service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12:30 PM. Reverend Richard Boyden, Pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
