DALTON - Beryl S. Boyle, 95, died Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2012 in Littleton.
Mrs. Boyle was born in Dalton on May 24, 1916, the daughter of Elizabeth M. (Gallagher) Smith and Thomas F. Smith.
A lifelong resident of Dalton, she was a longtime member of the Dalton Congregational Church where she was an organist and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Other memberships include the Riverside Grange of Dalton for more than 75 years, the Northern NH Pomona Grange, the NH State Grange and the National Grange. She was also a Trustee of the Trust Funds for the Town of Dalton and a member of the Dalton Historical Society. She traveled from Colebrook to Ashland installing officers of the Grange. Beryl was known for giving monologues at various events along with organizing and directing plays and programs at social functions in town.
She worked in the offices of the Gilman Paper Company for many years, law office of Atty. Harry Weistrop in Whitefield in the 1960s and the Supervisory Union in Littleton in the 1970s.
Family members include her son Gary W. Boyle and his wife Joan of Littleton; three grandchildren Connor, Kerry and Cavan; sister Beverly Stewart of Dalton; sisters-in-law Irene Lynde of Littleton and Catherine Brown of Manchester, Conn.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband William E. Boyle in 1990 and by her siblings Nila Aldrich, Kenneth Smith, Thelma Fearon and Arline McMann.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday evening, February 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday February 12 at 12:00 noon at the Dalton Congregational Church with a reception to follow at the Dalton Town Hall. Burial will be in the spring in Cushman Cemetery in Dalton.
