Betty Lou Fenmore

WHITEFIELD - Betty Lou Fenmore, 85, of the Highland House, died Monday February 28, 2022, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Betty Lou was born in McAllen, Texas on February 25, 1937, the daughter of Donald and Bessie (Robie) Prince. Betty Lou was raised in Franklin, NH. She was a graduate of Franklin High School, Franklin, NH and Fisher College, Boston, MA.

She met and married James B. Fenmore and they operated the Handy Landing General Store at Weirs Beach until the mid-sixties. They moved to the North Country where they operated several other businesses including the Gift Shed in Twin Mountain, Whitefield Car Care, and Country Vittles in Whitefield. For 10 years Betty Lou worked as a secretary for the NH State Police, Troop F in Twin Mountain. She and Jim were also the custodians of the Troop F Barracks.

Betty Lou was an active member and organist of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Whitefield, NH. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, crosswords, going to lunch with her friends and was a diehard Red Sox fan.

Surviving family members include a niece Sara-Lee (Locke) Caligiuri (Tom), a nephew Toby Locke, great nephews Christopher Cloutier (Jess), Charles Cloutier (Whitney); and a first cousin Sandra Lutz Hill Flood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and her husband Jim.

Services will be held a later date. An announcement will be made prior to.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 275, Whitefield, NH 03598.
