WHITEFIELD, NH - Betty S. McCullough, 89, of Farmington, CT passed on to eternal life Thursday, October 12, 2023. Betty was born in Bebee Quebec, Canada on September 14, 1934, and soon after lived in Vermont. For the past several months Betty lived with her daughter in Lancaster, New Hampshire and was a resident at The Morrison skilled Nursing Facility in Whitefield, New Hampshire. She is the daughter of the late Burton Stevens and Ruth Monroe.
Betty lived in the Farmington community for over 62 years! Betty was a Girl Scout Leader and worked at Irving A. Robbins middle school in Farmington. Anyone that knew Betty knew that she loved to talk! She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku, socializing and playing games with her family and friends. She also knitted and crocheted. She loved country music, dancing and was up for just about anything fun! She was always laughing and had a sarcastic side where she always had a good “come back” for anyone that tested her! She loved animals and had many pets throughout her life. She loved to vacation in Old Orchard Beach, ME and was a snowbird in Grand Lake RV Resort in Ocala, FL for 15 years. Betty was a caring, giving and kind soul who was always there for you. Betty will be missed dearly by all and will forever be in our hearts.
Betty is survived by her son, Leeland D. McCullough Jr. and his wife Donna, her daughters, Allison Gay and her husband Stephen, Laura Hewins and Billy Wright, her granddaughters, Tracy McCullough and Alex DePastino, Jessica McCullough, her Grandsons Daniel Gay and Diana Roman, Keith McCullough, Joseph Hewins, Great Grandson, Anthony DePastino and Great Granddaughters Marceline and Lilith. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Leeland D. McCullough Sr, her cherished daughter Diana Lee McCullough, and her son-in-law Gary Hewins.
The family would like to thank Weeks Medical Center of Lancaster, NH and especially The Morrison Skilled Nursing facility in Whitefield, NH for their dedication and loving care of Betty.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 25 at 9:00AM at the State Veteran Cemetery, Middletown CT, where Betty will join her late husband and daughter. Reverend Susan Gibson, pastor of the First Church of Christ, Farmington, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, ASPCA, Alzheimer’s Association or the Dementia Society of America.
