JEFFERSON - Bonnie Rae Chancey, 71, of Owls Head Highway, died Thursday morning, June 15, 2017, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Chancey was born in Winchendon, MA, on November 5, 1945, the daughter of George W. and Irene (Bowers) Hall. She was raised in Athol, MA, was a graduate of Athol High School, and attended Greenfield Community College for a year. She came to the North Country to work at the Waumbek in Jefferson where she met, and later married, Robert S. Chancey.
For 30 years she was employed as a rural mail carrier with the US Post Office. She delivered mail throughout Lancaster, Jefferson and Guildhall, until retiring in 2007. Bonnie loved the outdoors and enjoyed many activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, mountain climbing and cross country skiing.
She was a member of the Friends of the Jefferson Library.
Surviving family members include her husband Robert S. Chancey of Jefferson; two sons, Daniel Chancey of Lancaster, Bret Chancey of Gorham, ME; 4 grandchildren; and a brother Barry Hall of Scituate, MA.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
