Calvin Colby

d. June 30, 2025

Calvin James Colby, age 77, of Lunenburg, Vt passed away after a long battle with ALS on May 30, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington, NC. Calvin was born in Lancaster, NH to the late Lee Colby and Margaret (Monahan) Colby.

After graduating high school Calvin worked in many different jobs. He was a diesel mechanic by trade, he worked on the Alaska pipeline, on the family farm and he also was a side judge and selectman. Calvin enjoyed doing things that helped his community.
He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he played softball and was in a bowling league. He loved riding his ATV, you could find him out riding around “the hill” and out riding on trips with friends and family. His favorite times were spending time with his sons four wheeling in West Virginia.
Calvin was a kind, hard-working man who would drop everything to help family and friends. Calvin liked to fix things, if there was something that was broken, he would always have a solution. He was not able to fix his ALS but fought it with determination, resilience and an unshakable spirit. His outlook remained hopeful and positive with a smile and laugh that inspired everyone around him.

He is predeceased by his parents Lee and Margaret.

Calvin is survived by his sons Brett Colby (Gretchen), Brandon Colby (Tina) and his daughter Cara Colby (Darrell). He also leaves behind his grandsons Noah Bodnar, Parker Colby, Sean Colby and his granddaughters Emily Victor, Alexis Colby, Layne Colby and Macy Colby. His siblings Lee Colby (Linda), Shannon Richman, Amy Colby, Craig Colby (Sally), Amy Colby and Brian Colby.
