Carl Yunghans M.D.

Lancaster, NH- Dr. Carl Yunghans, M.D., 82, passed away on Thursday January 12, 2012 at Weeks Medical Center. He was born in Mount Vernon, NH on March 26, 1929 a son to the late Emil and Sarah (Jones) Yunghans.
Dr. Yunghans graduated from Waltham High School in Waltham, MA. He went to college and medical school at Tufts University; serving his internship in the United States Navy from which he was honorably discharged in 1957. Dr. Yunghans began practicing medicine in Lancaster in 1957 working independently out of his office in the House of Seven Gables until 1972. In 1972 he became a founding member of the Regional Medical Professionals Association. He married Sandra Nada Placey in 1982. Dr. Yunghans retired from practicing medicine in 1993.
Dr. Yunghans was a Director of the Lancaster Fair, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Elks, American Legion and the Snow Drifters. In his free time Dr. Yunghans enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time at his Camp on Neal's Pond. Family meant the world to him and were always put first above all else.
Dr. Yunghans was predeceased by his parents and a sister Janette Balben. He is survived by his wife Sandra Yunghans, two daughters Ellen Chapman of Crawfordville, FL, Lyn Ross of Concord, NH, three sons Wayne Yunghans of Warrenton, VA, Glen Yunghans of Plymouth, NH, Lance Placey of Derry, NH, two brothers Herman Yunghans of Limerick, ME, Emil Yunghans of Watertown, MA 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday January 15, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday January 16 at 10 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster with burial to follow immediately after in the Summer Street Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Northwood's Home Health & Hospice 278 Main St. Lancaster, NH 03584 or the Lancaster Fire Association, 25 Main St. Lancaster, NH 03584.
