STRATFORD- Carlene R. Stone, 61, passed away on April 4, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Stone was born in Rumford, Maine on October 9, 1949, a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Smith) Mills.
She was raised in Bethel, Maine and has been a resident of Stratford for 40 years. For 13 years she worked as a cook for Tri-County CAP Head Start Program in Groveton. Many of the children there referred to her as a "Good Cooker".
Carly had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing, reading, going to the ocean, and she could tell the best stories. Her laughter was contagious and her smile would light up a room. Her greatest love was her grandchildren.
Family members include her husband Samuel C. Stone of Stratford; her mother Elizabeth of Rumford; her children Melanie Stone of Colebrook, Joshua Stone of Stratford, Melissa White of Lancaster, Samantha Stone of Stratford, Sara Willey of Twin Mountain, Jakelene Stone of Stratford and her step son Samuel D. Stone; her brothers Charlie Mills of Salem, Oregon, Randy Mills of Bethel, Ronnie Mills of Mexico, ME and Scott Mills of Rumford; her sisters Bonnie Marshall of Bethel and Roxanne Corriveau of Gilead; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her father, a brother David Mills and a granddaughter Sammy Jo Wright, predeceased her.
At Carlene's request there are no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday afternoon April 10
th
at 2 PM, at the Kimball Hall in Stratford Hollow.
Burial will be held in the spring in the Center Cemetery in Stratford.
