LANCASTER - Carol Jean Ballard,74, died at her Depot Street home, Sunday October 24, 2021. She was born in Lancaster on May 8, 1947, the daughter of Thomas and Christine (Sheltry) Cass and attended school in Groveton, in 1970 she married Marty Ballard in Lancaster, where they made their home.
In her younger years she had a beautiful singing voice. Being an excellent homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and doing crafts for many years until she lost her eyesight. Carol loved to decorate for Halloween and especially for Christmas when she would plan and execute everything to the finest detail. For the past six years her sister Marilyn took care of her, a very difficult task, as Carol was a very private person and she insisted on her own way. But they remained sisters and best friends. She may not have shown it on the outside, but she loved her family very much. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, a son, Stephen Pelletier and his wife Nancy of Gilman and daughter Kristine Ballard and stepson Everett Ballard., along with her sister Marilyn Hand and her husband Ken of Groveton, six grandchildren and several great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and a brother Steve Cass.
Services will be held at a time to be announced.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Chris Laurent for all his assistance and to home health nurses Clarissa and Dawn for excellent and loving care.
