Carol Ann Hegyi

LANCASTER - Carol Ann Hegyi, 66, of Main Street, died Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2006, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.

Carol was born in Bridgeport, CT, on April 3, 1939, the daughter of Alexander and Anna (Kurek) Hegyi.

For many years she resided in Devon, CT, and graduated from Lauralton Hall, Milford, CT. She attended Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT, where she acquired a teaching degree and then went on to earn a masters degree at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Her teaching career was devoted to high school math and she taught at St. Mary's High School, New Haven, CT, Milford High School, Milford, CT, and the Joseph A. Foran High School, Milford, CT.

She retired from teaching in 1995 and moved to Lancaster in 2005. For many years she was involved with the New Haven Math League and the Connecticut State Math League of which she was a coordinator. Memberships include the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics and the Tabernacle Society of All Saints Church.

Carol enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, crafting and puzzles of all kinds, especially crossword puzzles.

Family members include her sister Sandra J. Hegyi of Lancaster; one uncle, John Kurek and one aunt, Helen Kurek, both of Bridgeport, CT, and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon and evening, January 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home Inc., Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Additional services will be held Tuesday in Devon, CT, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Milford.
