Carole A. Austin of Concord, VT passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Carole was born in Stamford CT to Perry & Harriet (Sawin) Wheeler and grew up in Westmore VT, near Willoughby Lake with her parents and siblings.

Later on, she met her husband Stephen Austin, and they built their life and raised their family in Concord VT for the past 60+ years. Carole spent much of her adulthood doing the books for the family construction business while raising her children. During this time, she enjoyed many shopping trips with family and friends. She was an amazing cook; her home- made donuts being some of the best. She enjoyed going to local fairs and watching the horse pulls; especially when her husband and son pulled their horses in them. She also enjoyed making her flower boxes look nice in the spring and picking blueberries from her crop of bushes.

Carole enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could always find her at every sports game they played through school. After her children and grandchildren were out of school, she retired from doing the books for the family business and after some time spent her days taking care of her great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by us all.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Austin; their children, Patricia Melvin of North Concord and George Austin and his wife Jody Cote of Lyndonville; her grandchildren, Lisa Normand and her husband Keith, Brian Melvin, Nicholas Austin and Jennilee Cote; as well as well as her great-grandchildren, Jillyan Normand, Blake Normand, Breeah Normand, Addison Cote and Taylor Maskell. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Cote of Champions Gate, FL; Ernest & Sherry Wheeler of Ocala, FL; Raymond & Sandy Wheeler of Apollo Beach FL and Burleigh Wheeler of New Orleans, LA; along with many nieces and nephews.

Carole was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Austin; her brother George Wheeler and his wife, Connie; her brother, Arthur Wheeler; her brother Alfred Wheeler and his wife Estelle; her brother Kenneth Wheeler and his wife, Rosemary and her parents Perry & Harriet Wheeler.

A Graveside Service for Carole & Pam will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 21st at Ridgwell Cemetery, Route 2 in Guildhall. Life Cycle celebrant Deborah Szauter of Twin Mountain, NH, will officiate.
