Obituary

Carolyn Weeks Willey went home to be with our Lord on September 17, 2026. She was 94.

Carolyn was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, June 3, 1932, to Lurlene Burnham Harriman and Henry Weeks. As a child, Carolyn enjoyed singing in the choir, exploring nature, and skating with older sister Dorothy.

Carolyn graduated from St. Johnsbury in 1950. In 1952, she married Richard Willey at the North Congregation Church in St. Johnsbury. Together, they had four children: Diane, David, Debbie, and Donna.

The Willey family moved to Bakersfield, California in 1960. They Willeys loved to travel and spent many years camping and exploring museums and the coast of California.

Carolyn was devoted homemaker, affectionately known as “Mrs. Clean”. In addition to working outside the home, she enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, and decorating for Christmas.

She traveled back to Vermont to help her aging parents. Later, she moved back to Porterville, California where she made new friends and served as a docent at the historical Zalud House.

Carolyn made her final trip back east to Vermont in 2001 where she lived in a log cabin in Waterford, Vermont. Now began her favorite hobby – snowshoeing. She also helped prepare meals at a “dinner bell” in St. Johnsbury.

Several years later, Carolyn moved to East Concord, Vermont to be closer to two of her daughters. Then she began ironing and sorting books for Our Corner Store in Whitefield, New Hampshire.

Carolyn is survived by three children, two grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her faith, quick wit, kindness, and her generosity.

Internment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Franconia, New Hampshire in the spring.
