Cecily Watlington King Jones

LANCASTER- Cecily Watlington King Jones, ninety-four, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday April 9, 2022. She was born June 6, 1927, in Summerville, NJ the daughter of Charles Artamus King and Cecily Watlington King.

She graduated from the Collage of Education in Evanston, Illinois with a two-year degree, later finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware and received her master's degree from East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania. She taught school in Chatham, NJ, Wilmington, DE, Tannersville and also Pocono Pines, PA. She also served as a teacher for Lehigh University's Reading Specialist Certification Program. As a consultant for American Book Company, she authored a first-grade English book and while at University of Delaware, assisted in making a film on reading. She started Humpty Dumpty Kindergarten in Munster, IN and helped start Western Reserve Junior Women's Club in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

Time spent at the family camp on Martin Meadow Pond and, as a child, being active in the Girl Scouts were special times for her.

Survivors include her son Lawrence T. Reeve of Lancaster, his wife Mary Jane, and her daughter Cecily Virginia Reeve, her husband Don Baker and her grandchildren, Corie Baker Steinbrink and Kathleen Reeve. She is also survived by her stepson, Casey Jones, his wife Linda and their children as well as Luke Jones and his family.

Cecily was predeceased by her two sisters, Jean Anderson and husband Ralph and her sister Margaret Freeman and husband Carl.

Services will be held at St. Timothy's Chapel in the summer.
