GILMAN, VT- Charles K. Knudson, 80, died Friday morning June 12, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mr. Knudson was born in Colebrook, NH on January 14, 1929, the son of Ingver and Grace (Page) Knudson. Charlie was raised in Colebrook until eight years of age. He then resided in many North Country towns until he married Clarice J. McKeage and they settled in Dalton for 15 years. They then moved to Gilman where he opened the first Charlie's Service Station for a few years and later moving to a second location that he operated for 20 years. He also worked for Hitchners in Littleton before retiring. He was a 50-year member and former chief of the Lunenburg Fire Department, Company B. Other memberships include the Dalton Congregational Church, the Gilman Methodist Church, St. Johnsbury Moose and the Gilman Senior Citizens. Family members include three sons, Charles G. Knudson and his partner Linda Way of Lunenburg, Rodney Knudson and his partner Fran Owen of East Concord and Paul S. Gilman and his wife Shelia of Whitefield; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife Clarice, his sons Randy L. Knudson, Steven B. Knudson and Dean Gilman, and a sister Gloria Gilman predeceased him. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening June 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Dalton Congregational Church. Reverend Virginia Alvarez, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Lunenburg, VT.
