LANCASTER - Charles J. Merrow, 63, a Hospice patient, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, February 4, 2007, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Merrow was born in Berlin, NH, on June 24, 1943, the son of Charles Gilman "Buster" Merrow and Amelia Mildred "Millie" Malasky.
Raised in Lancaster he attended schools there and at one time operated the family farm with his father in Jefferson. For many years he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He was self employed and also worked for Tom Parks and Hooper Rexford. For the past year and a half he has been a resident of the Highland House in Whitefield.
Family members include a son Charles W.V. Merrow of Littleton; three daughters, Wendy Reed of Dalton, Becky Newton of Groveton, and Holly Merrow of Lancaster; three sisters, Arlene Gambeski of Norwich, CT, Brenda Wood of Boothbay Harbor, ME, Carolyn Antone of Colchester, VT; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister Mona Lauzon.
At Charlie's request there are no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, February 7, at 10:00 at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Reverend Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Kilkenny View Cemetery.
