LANCASTER - Charles Gregory Turner, 70, of Water Street, died at his home Wednesday, July 2, 2008.
Mr. Turner was born in Boston, MA, on September 27, 1937, the son of Alfred and Josephine (MacInnis) Turner.
After high school, he went on to graduate from Bentley College with a degree in accounting. Charles joined the US Air Force and served for a time in France and Germany receiving a good conduct medal. He later worked for many years as a senior accountant for the Massachusetts Department of Education in Boston. Six years ago he moved to Lancaster.
Charles was a very charitable person and often gave to individuals and organizations in need. He loved reading, collecting stamps and coins, fishing and was an avid sports fan. He was also a member of many organizations.
He was a member of the Mayflower Society.
Family members include three sons Carl Turner of Lowell, MA, Gary Turner of Lancaster, John Strickland of Massachusetts; a brother Alfred Turner of Kingston, MA; and three sisters, Theresa Kalinowski of Needham, MA, Mary Pearson of West Roxbury, MA, and Genievieve Brodrick of Millis, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 7, from 4 to 8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM, at All Saints Church, Lancaster, Reverend Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Military honors will follow.
