GROVETON - Christine L. Cass, 83, formerly of Hillside Ave., died suddenly Saturday morning, April 7, 2007, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. She had been a resident of Country Village Genesis Eldercare since October of 2006.
Mrs. Cass was born in Lancaster on February 10, 1924, the daughter of William and Jennie (Moses) Sheltry.
Christine was raised in the Maidstone and Stratford area and was a graduate of Stratford High School. She married Thomas J. Cass and they moved to Groveton in 1947 where they raised their family and continued to reside throughout their lifetime. In 1965 she started working for Campbell Stationary in both the Northumberland and later Stratford locations. She retired in the early 1980's. Christine loved to cook, raise flowers, and she enjoyed music, often rocking and singing her favorite songs.
Family members include two daughters, Carol Ballard of Lancaster, Marilyn Hand of Groveton; six grandchildren, Stephen Pelletier, Jeremy Hand Jamie Hand, Kristine Ballard, Erica Cass, Kristien Boschen; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Tom and a son Steve Cass.
At Christine's request there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at later date at the convenience of the family in the Northumberland Cemetery.
