NORTH HAVERHILL, NH – Connie J. Cross, 76, of Benton Road, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Country Village Genesis Healthcare Center after a long illness.
Connie was born in Colebrook, NH, on June 22, 1947, the daughter of Kenneth and Leora (McKeage) Hartlen. She was a longtime Colebrook resident and is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wayne H. Cross.
Other surviving family members include her three daughters, Renee Cross (Daniel Prehemo, Concord, NH) of Colebrook, Shelley Attaway (Steve Attaway) of Wilson, NC, Wendy Cross (Scott Therrien) of Pittsburg; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Hartlen and Freeman Hartlen, both of Colebrook; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lorraine Allen.
In Colebrook, Connie worked in several municipal capacities including police and emergency services dispatcher, special police officer, and crossing guard. She also worked at the Balsams Hotel in reception, Basket & Buys, and Nancy’s Video. Connie and Wayne resided in Monroe for several years and have lived in North Haverhill for the past thirteen years.
Connie was a lover of horses. She enjoyed training and showing horses and frequently attended horse shows. She also enjoyed movies and had an impressive personal collection of them. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, particularly spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
