LANCASTER - Cynthia A. Hammond, 71, of Main Street, died Tuesday morning November 10, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Cynthia was born in Gardiner, Maine, on June 19, 1938, the daughter of Manton and Esther (Annis) Emerson.
She grew up in South Gardiner, Maine, where she graduated from Gardiner High School in 1959, moving to Lancaster in 1960. During her life she has worked at various hotels throughout New England and Florida. For the last several years "The Nan" was employed at Santa's Village in Jefferson. She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Family members include four sons, William Bucklin Jr. of Manchester, Steven Hammond of California, Kevin Hammond of Lancaster, Shawn Hammond of Brattleboro; two daughters, Laurie Comings of Lancaster, Karen White of Germany; two brothers Richard Emerson of Augusta, Maine, William Manton Emerson of Idaho; two sisters, Elaine Melvin of Litchfield, Maine, Brenda McFarland of Connecticut; 13 grandchildren, Aaron, Alicia, Abby, Hillary, Brianna, Brooke, Jessy, Maddy, Katrina, Raymond, Kensley, Matthew, Makaila; 2 great-grandchildren, Kya and Lily; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Lisa Smith in 2006.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, November 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. There will not be a service following.
