LANCASTER – Cynthia L. Riff, 66, passed away Sunday, May 28th, 2023, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long battle with cancer.
Cynthia was born in Ware, Massachusetts on December 11, 1956, the daughter of James Hand and Sandra C. (Mills) Hand. She has been a longtime North Country resident, raised in Stratford, NH and graduating from Stratford High School. Residing in Lancaster for many years, Cynthia had a long career at Weeks Medical Center where she held various positions. She retired from the medical records department.
Cynthia enjoyed the outdoors, knitting, crocheting, and she loved to read, often completing a book in a day. She was loved by many of her family and close-knit friends, of whom the family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for their help and support.
Surviving family members include her husband Philip I. Riff Sr. of Lancaster; her mother, Sandra Hand of Stratford; two daughters, Melissa Chase and husband Scott of Lancaster; Jessica Riff and her significant other Jeremy Burke of Groveton; grandchildren Preston Santana-Riff and Bailey McLaughlin; a brother Kenneth Hand and wife Marilyn of Groveton, their sons Jamie and Jeremy Hand; a sister, Amy Gallagher and husband Shannon of Piermont, NH; and a very special nephew Tucker Gallagher. She was predeceased by her son Philip “PJ” Riff Jr. and her father James Hand.
