TILTON, NH - Dann B. Nerich, 62, formerly of Whitefield/Lancaster, NH and Redding, CT, passed away peacefully, Sunday February 18, 2018, after a long illness at The Hospice House in Concord, NH.
Dann was born in Meriden, CT on December 27, 1955, the son of Nicholas T. and Janet B.(Baird) Nerich. He attended Joel Barlow High School from 1970-1974 in Redding and for 4 years was employed at the Institute of Children's Literature, a correspondence school, in Redding. In 1983, he moved to Lancaster, NH and married the love of his life, Alicia Dodge, also from Redding, CT, in 1984.
For 5 years Dann worked as a cook in the North Country including the Kimball Hill Inn, Old Susannah's, and the Jefferson Family Restaurant. He then worked for as a machine operator for 14 years at the Norton Company in Littleton, NH and 2 years at FCI/Burndy in Lincoln, NH.
Dann and Alicia moved to Whitefield, NH in 1996 with their son Greg after buying their first home and loving life in "Nerich's Nook", a log cabin by Mount Prospect. Dann enjoyed motorcycles, cars, dining out, cooking, and travelling, especially to NYC. He had a lighthearted and outgoing personality, infectious laugh, and enjoyed socializing with friends and family. He was a good teller of stories and will be remembered by all who listened to them.
Dann and Alicia moved to the Lakes Region in 2012, leaving the North Country of 30 years, where they have been members of St. Gabriel parish.
Surviving family members include his wife of 33 plus years, Alicia of Tilton, NH;
his son Gregory Nerich of Bethlehem,NH;
a sister Susan Nerich of Ansonia, CT; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. He was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 AM at All Saints church in Lancaster, NH. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the spring, with a private graveside gathering of family members, in Redding, CT
