Daphne Weiss

GROVETON - After a long illness, Daphne Weiss, 87, of Melcher Street, passed away Friday afternoon, April 15, 2022, at the Jack Byrne Center, Lebanon.

Daphne was born in Groveton on June 11, 1934, the daughter of Raymond Newton Sr. and Sarah (Tippit) Newton. She was raised in Groveton until the age of 16 but has been a lifetime reside of New Hampshire, having lived in several towns throughout the state. She worked many jobs including 8 years of employment at Weeks Medical Center, 11 years at the Greenbrier Nursing Home, Nashua, and several years at the Comfort Inn, Nashua. Daphne enjoyed collecting dolls, NASCAR memorabilia, and cars; especially El Caminos. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time on computers.

Surviving family members include a son Ralph Bedell Jr. and his wife Susie of Nashua; a daughter Mary Annis of Groveton; two brothers, Sonny Newton of Vermont, Brian Newton of Groveton; four sisters, Rena Ackerman of Rhode Island, Alice O'Leary of South Paris, Maine, Donna Allen of West Stewartstown, Neva Hawes of Groveton; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Ralph Henry Bedell Sr; second husband George Edward Weiss; a son Paul Bedell; and a son-in-law Russell Annis.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 22, from 10:00AM - 2:00PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will follow immediately after at the funeral home at 2:00 PM. Reverend Eungil Cho, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Groveton, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverton Cemetery, Riverton. A reception will follow at the Waumbek Methna Snowmobile Club, 116 Presidential Hwy, Jefferson, NH 03583.
