JEFFERSON - David Thayer Hicks, 55, of Jefferson lost his long struggle with cancer at home surrounded with love from his family.
Born in Westfield, MA, the son of a Navy LT Clayton Thayer Hicks and Catherine Levasseur, David and his family lived in Springfield, MA, Charleston, SC, Saratoga Springs, NY and finally settled in Jefferson.
David had a kind heart, big dreams, and many friends and family to share them both with. He always enjoyed working with his hands on all kinds of projects. He had the gift of being able to take anything apart and put it back together; a master craftsman. David loved being outdoors, whether in the mountains of New Hampshire or under the warm Florida sunshine. He enjoyed riding his snow machine on the trails in Coos County (especially to Pond Safety), walking on the beach, and being on his boat in Florida. David's other passions included aviation and aerospace, history, travel, and cars and motorcycles.
Nothing made David happier, however, than the love from his children Candra and McCullan, and grandchildren, Henry, Mia, and Deacon. He was looking forward to the arrival of his fourth grandchild in November.
David is also survived by his parents Clayton and Catherine of Jefferson; three sisters, Lori Carlson of Thornton, CO, Lisa Hicks of Jefferson, Patricia O'Neill of Holderness; his lifelong friend Connie Holmes; nieces & nephews, Kate Webster, Dylan Carlson, Elizabeth Dimick, Sam Dimick; aunts, uncles and cousins, too many to mention but not forgotten.
There will be no viewing, at the request of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 19th, starting at 3:00 PM at the Thayer home on Cabin Fever Lane. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in Jefferson.
