LANCASTER – David Owen Libby, 79, of Mechanic Street, died peacefully at his home Saturday, November 26, 2022, after a sudden illness.
David was born in Norway, Maine, on December 3, 1942, the son of Edgar and Beulah (Levere) Libby. He was a long-time equipment operator for the Groveton Paper Board. While employed there he made many friends who lived throughout the North Country.
David loved spending time with his granddaughters, whether it was watching a movie, going for rides and ice cream or just driving them somewhere. He loved to read books, watch NASCAR and Thunder Road racing, along with old movies and cartoons. He loved his dog, Sophie. He enjoyed piss warm Budweiser, jeep rides, and old country music.
Surviving family members include his two children, Heather Libby Kenison (Justin) and Michael Libby both of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Addyson Kenison and Hannah Kenison; a sister Dorothy Hart of Kennebunk, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Bonnie Isham Libby in 2011 and a sister Annie Brown in 2018.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Monday evening, December 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Burial will be held at a later date in the Riverton Cemetery, Jefferson.
