Dawn Marie (Young) Barnett of Silver Lake, NH passed away unexpectedly on the morning of January 30, 2025. Dawn was born in Berlin, NH to Leo Young and Betty (Thompson) Rano on January 18, 1968. She grew up in Gorham, NH, attended Gorham High School, and received her Associates Degree at White Mountains Community College. She worked for Northern Human Services for many years in Coos and Carroll counties. Dawn later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Granite State College and continued to work in the Human Services industry. Most recently, she served as a Clinical Case Manager and Clinical Assistant for Green Mountain Treatment Center.
Dawn loved to help people. She was kind and compassionate and was able to remain calm and collected under pressure. There was nothing more important to her than her family. She enjoyed motorcycle rides and camping trips with her beloved husband, Jay, and always looked forward to “family time” with her children, Ryan and Kayla, and two-year-old grandson, Adrian.
Dawn is survived by her husband Jay Barnett, son Ryan Bernier, his wife Chelsea Demastrie, and grandson Adrian Demastrie of Hillsboro, NH, daughter Kayla (Bernier) Turner and her husband Brandon Turner of Hickory, NC, mother Betty Rano of Gorham, NH, half-sisters Michele Martin of Berlin, NH, Melissa Merchant and her husband Jim Merchant of Loudon, NH, uncles Wilfred Thompson of Littleton, NH, Hugh Thompson of Gorham NH, aunt Darlene Patry of Gorham NH, several cousins, two nephews, and a niece. Dawn was preceded in death by her step-father Frederick Rano, father Leo Young, as well as an aunt and uncle.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, February 22nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Public House on Page Hill in Tamworth, NH. A Graveside Service will be held in the Spring at Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster for close family and friends.
