Denise C. Deery

JEFFERSON, NH - Denise C. Deery (Lafortune), 62 of Jefferson, NH made her journey to Heaven, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 ending her long battle with Cancer.  She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to the late Raymond R. Lafortune and Doris T. Lafortune (Morency) in Lowell, MA.  Denise graduated from St. Louis Academy in Lowell, MA.  She married John B. Deery at St. Williams Church in Tewksbury, MA on December 10, 1971.  They began their lives together in Lowell, MA, then relocating to Washington, DC where her husband John Deery was a Metropolitain Police Officer.  Following her husband through his career they lived together with their family in Derry, NH, Londonderry, NH, Canaan, NH, Salem, NH, Windham, NH, Twin Mountain, NH and retiring in Jefferson, NH.

Denise worked at the Cardigan Mountain School, Canaan, NH before entering her career within Hospitality Management at Higbea Motel, Holiday Inn Salem, NH and Holiday Inn, Tewksbury, Andover, MA before she and her husband purchased The Northlander Motel, Twin Mountain, NH fulfilling a life long dream of owning their own motel.  They retired together in Jefferson, NH selling their motel in 2008.

Denise will always be remembered for her devotion to god.  In every community she and her family lived she was always so proud to be active both spiritually and musically within the catholic parishes.  Denise was known for always opening her home to anyone in need. She and her family enjoyed producing many variety shows that helped many charitable organizations. She loved the ocean, visiting as many light houses as the road would take her to, trips to Hyanis, MA and Florida.

Denise is survived by her husband John B. Deery of Jefferson, NH, daughter Marjon D. Licks and husband  Michael P. Licks of Canaan, NH, daughter Denise M. Biathrow and husband Cliff R. Biathrow of Grafton, NH, son John B. Deery Jr. of Jefferson, NH and daughter Christine A. Labore and husband Jason D. Labore of Lancaster, NH, her nine grandchildren Brendin, Sarah, Jordan, Alexis, Ryan, Josh, McKenzie, Desiree and Khale, her brother Raymond Lafortune Sr. and wife Colleen Lafortune of Lowell, MA, her brother Gerry Lafortune, her brother Andy Lafortune and wife Beth Lafortune of Tewksbury, MA, her sister Anne Marie Gauthier and husband Roland Gauthier of Hudson, NH and sister Renee Ronin of Tyngsboro, MA. her godchildren Lindsay Lafortune of Tewksbury, MA and Matthew Lafortune of Lowell, MA. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held 5:00 to 8:00PM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church in Lancaster, NH.  Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in the name of Denise C. Deery, to the Oncology Department at Weeks Medical Center, 173 Middle Street, Lancaster, NH 03584.
