Donald R. Frenette

January 21, 1964 — June 4, 2023

LANCASTER, NH – Donald R. Frenette, 59, hiked his way to Heaven after experiencing sudden illness in the White Mountain National Forest’s Little East Pond Trail in Livermore, NH. He left this world doing what he loved most, while enjoying his favorite place to be: the great outdoors.

Donald was born in Berlin, NH on January 21, 1964, the son of Lionel and Lorraine (Valliere) Frenette. He grew up in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School. He later graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. Don was a forester all of his working life. He was employed by several paper companies during his career, the last 20 years with Wagner Forest Management LTD.

Don’s love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family. Love for his daughters had no bounds – and he was so looking forward to their upcoming weddings! He was quick witted, funny, non-judgmental and attentive. He was a great friend. He was an avid hiker who completed the New Hampshire 48 4000-footers in every season, as well as the New England 67 and the New England 100 highest peaks.

Don also loved to dance, and he enjoyed writing poetry – excelling in haikus. He sometimes attempted to play golf (poorly according to him), playing darts, woodworking, and talking at length to his grand-pup, Gordo. Don reveled in watching any New England sport teams play, especially the New England Patriots.

Surviving family members include his wife Jennifer (Jenkins) Frenette of Lancaster; his two daughters, Elaine Frenette and fiancé Tom Paquet of Littleton, Leah Frenette and fiancé Aaron Maynard of London, England; his mother Lorraine of Berlin; his siblings Robert ”Bobby” Frenette (Shirley), Lily Berryman (Ted), Raymond “Butch” Frenette (Collette), Lise Neal (James), Jon Frenette; and many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his father, Lionel and two brothers, Richard “Ricky” Frenette and Roland “Popen” Frenette.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, June 9th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 10th at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church, Lancaster. Reverend Britto Adaikalam, pastor, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue ( https://www.pemisar.org/help/ ) or any charity of your choice.
